Roast Beef & Horseradish

Rare roast beef, sharp horseradish cream and a pile of fresh greens on whole wheat. Deli-counter quality, made at your own table.

made with Whole Wheat Sourdough

What you need

  • 4 slices Whole Wheat Sourdough
  • 200g rare roast beef, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp horseradish
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • A handful of rocket or lettuce
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • Thin red onion
  • Salt & black pepper
  • Butter

Make it

  1. Stir the mayo, horseradish and Dijon into a quick cream.
  2. Butter the bread, then spread the horseradish cream.
  3. Layer the roast beef in loose folds, never pressed flat.
  4. Add tomato, red onion and a big handful of greens.
  5. Season well, close, press gently and cut.

Tip. Let the roast beef come to room temperature first. Cold-from-the-fridge meat mutes all the flavour.
